So I find this story ironic... especially after a recent blog from my good buddy, Angry Tiki (Angry Tiki T.S.A. Blog).
My family is planning a fun family trip to Hawaii in Spring. We are all EXTREMELY excited! So, the best part about saving up Frequent Flier miles for YEARS is that at some point you get to cash them in for flights that are way more money than they ever should be. In our case, tickets to Hawaii.
So I'm home and The Captain (that's my Dad) is on the phone with Delta making our arrangements. Dad's ticket, DONE.... Mom's ticket, DONE... Time for my ticket. I overhear Dad talking to the booking agent and there seems to be a slight problem. Then I hear the infamous words "Well, he's right here... Would you like to talk to him?"
I get on the phone and identify myself and the agent proceeds to ask me my address. I go ahead and give the same address I've lived at for over 2 years and he proceeds to tell me that it isn't correct. Now, I know that it is freaky the things that people can find out about other people now-a-days, but I'm pretty sure I know where I live. After telling him again that it really is my address, I decide to give him my previous address, even though I have flown Delta since moving from that address (OVER 2 YEARS AGO). The agent then said "that's it! Now I can book your ticket." This was good news, however I wanted to resolve this address thing so I asked him if I could go ahead and update my address since now he knew that it must REALLY be me on the phone? He said I had to do that online. "No problem, I'll do that as soon as we're done," was my response.
With my ticket all booked, I went over to the internet and went to delta.com. There was a little log-in screen for my "SkyMiles" number (which I had) and my PIN number (which I had no freakin' clue). So I clicked on the "Forgot my PIN" link and it asked me for my SkyMiles number. I figured next I was gonig to get one of those fun "What's your Mother's Madien Name?" or "What's the name of your first pet?" prompts... Nope, I got the most wonderful screen EVER... the screen that makes this entire story funny....
"THANK YOU! We will mail your PIN # to you."
YOU'RE GOING TO DO WHAT?!?!?!? That's no good for me since my PIN is going to be mailed to my OLD ADDRESS! All I want to do is update my address and I'm in an airline circle of hell! I need the PIN to update my address but to get the PIN it has to be mailed to my address on file!
So I call Delta back and they give me some line about faxing a letter to someone to request the changes... yeah, that'll work.
I guess whoever lives at my old address should expect lots of fun Delta SkyMiles things in the mail! Hope they enjoy my trip to Hawaii.

Florida Gators, Disney
The biggest loser in this entire BCS thing is the Big 10... but not really... They have 1 team, why do they feel they might need 2? Especially 2 teams that already played???
The Big 10 is misnamed anyway because they really have 11 teams. Why not tell Notre Dame to stop being a pain in everyone's ass and just join the Big 10. You can still call it "The Big 10"... they've done it with 11 teams so why not 12? Then, the Big 10 can join the BIG BOYS and have a Championship Game. Wouldn't that be nice?
That way, instead of crying because you didn't play for 2 weeks, you would have played yesterday and people wouldn't have forgotten how good you might just be. See, if they had that and put Michigan and Ohio State in different Divisions then they would have played again on Saturday. Michigan would have gotten another shot on a netural turf and it would have made sure that the true Big 10 Champ was in the BCS Game.
See... always solving the problems!
Okay, so I found out at 8:15pm that the Gators jumped Michigan to get the nod for the National Championship game in Glendale, AZ on Jan. 8th.
I do not think that this has totally sunk in yet. I think that all the buzz about the BSC and how much crap it is just really has taken over and one of my best buds went to Michigan so obviously one of us was going to be pretty pissed at the end of the day.
Here are the reasons why I think it should be Florida in the game (even though I think the BCS is idiotic and needs to be burned)...
1. SEC Champs - Michigan was not their conference champ and the title game should have conference champs only
2. Toughest schedule in the country
3. It is not a rematch
4. Always found ways to win (screw so called "style points")
I know all of those might not be good reasons, but there it is. The "people" have spoken and this is what we get.
I have solved the problem of the BCS, but that's for another blog.
For now, I will sit and wait over a month to see what happens. It is going to drive me crazy and I'll do a lot of thinking and pining and pacing... and that's why I'm going to die at a young age.
At the moment, "It's Great to be a Florida Gator!!!"
What is your favorite board game?

Only Monopoly... the greatest game ever. Though no one will play with me because I get mean.
Who's the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
Well, it is sort of my Dad. He isn't hard because he has this stupid Christmas list that is the same every year and you can just pick something off the list. But, sometimes you want to try to stray from the list and give a good surprise present... but that's a BIG risk. And you'll know right away when he opens the "off the list present" if you should have just stuck to the list.
So I just got off the phone with a friend of mine and we talked about shopping online. My whole feeling is that it costs me the amount of shipping in gas to drive to the mall, be stuck in traffic on the horribly busy road outside the mall, drive around the mall parking lot looking for a spot, then doing the same thing all the way back. Plus, I don't have to deal with all those people everywhere... which is just OUT OF CONTROL.
So I sad YAY to online shopping!
So yesterday was the big day... Thanksgiving! When we celebrate some Indians and Pilgrams getting together to eat stuff... little did those Indians (or, more politically correct, Native Americans) know that later years would lead to tons of people coming over from England to pretty much take over their land.
Anyway, I digress... the point is, it was TURKEY DAY! And let me just tell you about Turkey Day in my house... it is a long standing tradition that we have as much food as there can possibly be! There are even two types of cranberries... one from scratch and one from the can.
So, needless to say, I ate my weight in Turkey and Mashed Taters and Sweet Potato Pie and Veggies and more Turkey and those yummy little Pilsberry Cresant rolls and then like what seemed like 18 different desserts.
And the moral of this story is that I never am going to eat AGAIN! But, 1 thing that I love more than the Turkey Feast is the Turkey Nap after! Oh man, there isn't a nap any better than that nap!!! Triptaphan (sp?) is MY FRIEND! :)
When do you start your holiday shopping?

Usually I want to start LONG before this crazy Black Friday thing... but I haven't this year... or really ever... but it's a nice thought.
In recent years I've made a list of things that I need to get everyone and then spent the last week before Christmas going crazy trying to finish this list. Such is life!
Okay, so we're coming down to the end of the season and I just have this feeling that the Gators will be screwed. See, there is this horrible thing called the BCS that is going to probably screw at least 2 teams.
Pretty much the Gators could beat FSU and win the SEC Championship (which most consider to be the toughest conference in college football) and finish 12-1 and be left out of the big game. I have to admit that while we might not be the number 1 team in all the land, I think we'd have a better shot of beating Ohio State than Michigan would playing them again. Pretty much Ohio State and Troy Smith just tour apart the secondary of Michigan... The Gators have a MUCH better secondary and would never allow the big plays to happen that Michgian let get through.
What hurts is that FSU sucks... they normally are good and then it looks like a big win but that is not the case this year AT ALL!
Not sure if a win over Arkansas will garner enough BCS "bonus points" to get into the big game.
There is also the problem of the USC/Notre Dame game... If USC wins then it's a big win for them and would probably put them into the Championship... but if Notre Dame wins then do they jump UF and UM? Michigan killed ND earlier so that wouldn't be fair for them to go instead of Michigan. But, again, what about Florida?
Guess we'll wait and see. One day someone will figure out that a playoff will get rid of all this craziness... but not sure if that'll be in the next 10 years??? It has always been a problem and there are still people who think it works just fine and that's just wrong!
Guess the Gators have to take it one game at a time and see how it all plays out? Go Gators!
